Driver Training

As a FORS Silver accredited business, every one of our drivers undergoes continual on the job training as part of our commitment to this standard and to ensure we deliver customer service excellence.

We have a small team of driver trainers lead by Chris Dakin, a very experience HGV driver in his own right. Every month, Chris spends a day with every driver we employ delivering goods on our fleet of tankers and tippers and those driving quarry vehicles or HGVs on our sites to make sure that everyone knows our code of practice and that the high standards we expect are being measured and met. All drivers are assessed and required to pass a competency test.

A typical training day follows the driver from the start to finish reviewing and revising every procedure taken. Drivers are issued with a tablet loaded with fleet management software for recording pre-delivery vehicle safety checks. Any defects are logged and repaired by our in-house mechanics based at our Curzon Lodge garage.

Risk assessments and safe systems of work are in place for every step of our logistical operations. All drivers are trained how to safely load and unload vehicles and the expected conduct and processes to follow when delivering to customers.

As a business we are focused on reducing the carbon footprint across our business and drivers are taught the skills to drive in a fuel-efficient manner.
